Things are bout to heat up in Chi City this summer. 107.5 WGCI is set to host Summer Jam 2014 starring R Kelly. The announcement was made earlier today with WGCI's Morning Riot and the lineup includes R&B singer Trey Songz, J Cole, Yo Gotti, K Camp, Ty Dolla $ign, & Chicago's Bop Kingz.  The event is set to take place at the United Center on June 22. Yesterday (4/19), in Chicago, wasn't your average day shopping at Walmart on a Saturday afternoon. This past weekend, shoppers got the opportunity to meet and greet with two of the most popular girls in entertainment, Sevyn Streeter and Angela Simmons. The two were on location to promote a new hair product called 'Beautiful Textures' and it was hosted by WGCI's radio personality, Loni Swain. Throughout the event, Simmons and Streeter sold shoppers on buying the new hair product, while interacting with the crowd, taking pictures and signing autographs. Sevyn Streeter also hit the stage to perform "It Won't Stop" and her latest single "nEXt," which you can view after the jump with pics.

Last night, Chicago's number #1 urban radio station, 107.5 WGCI, put on a huge party for the Morning Riot's 5th Year Anniversary, being on-air. The celebration took place at Transit Nightclub, in the City's West Loop, and it featured performances from Kam, Que Mr. OG Bobby Johnson, Rico Love, and the one, who stole the show, R Kelly. Showing love to his fans, ATL's Future stopped in Chi-town last night (April 15th) to host an exclusive listening party for his upcoming album, Honest . It was held in Chicago's South Suburbs at EPIC and it was hosted by WGCI's U.B. Rodriguez, along with DJ V-DUB turning up on the one's and two's.  Throughout the night, Future performed a long list of songs from his upcoming album, Honest , along with some of his hits like "Sh*t" and "Karate Chop." Over the last couple of years, many people, including Chicagoans, have been quick to call the City of Chicago the name 'Chi-Raq' due to its violent murder rate and crime history in the urban community.  Well, on yesterday (April 14th), Chicago rapper Shawnna took to social media about the topic and expressed her feelings on why she hates the name that's been put on her hometown and why she will never join the bandwagon to gain entertainment publicity. The event was held in Chicago's South Loop at the McCormick Place and it was filled with Lisa's family, old friends, classmates, and loyal fans.  During the panel discussion with Lobo, Lisa Raye opened up about everything from her love life to the cancellation of TV show "Single Ladies." She also talked to Lobo about the pressure and struggle for Black actresses in Hollywood, which she threw a little shade to the Beyonce's & J-Lo's of the world. "I don't think its too much pressure, now. I think the Beyonce's and J-Lo's have made that prevalent. Legendary deejay/producer Frankie Knuckles passes away at the age of 59. Knuckles is best known for developing the sound and house music culture in Chicago, which earned him the title "Godfather of Chicago House Music." Knuckles is also known for his live sets at Chicago's Warehouse in the 80's and his work remixing records for major artist such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and more. Tribune
