Hustle Simmons, SWANK PR, & A Zae Productions Speak at "The Music Industry: Do's & Don'ts Event"

Yesterday, Lyrical Eyes Management joined together with some of Chicago 's music professionals to educate aspiring artists about the music industry at the  Do's & Don'ts Panel Discussion . The event was held in Downtown Chicago at the DoubleTree Hotel and it was moderated by Dometi of WCUG.  During the uncensored discussion, the panel spoke on a various of perspectives about the business including artist management, the responsibilities of a PR, hiring the proper team, branding and more.

Continuing to put in work, Spike Lee is beginning to bring in star power for his Chicago-based film, Chiraq . On yesterday, the "School Daze" and "Do The Right Thing" film director announced on social media that he just added his longtime friend and superstar actor Samuel L Jackson to the lineup. "Big Love To My Morehouse Brother Mr. Samuel L. Jackson For Bringing His Talents To CHI-RAQ. YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF." Its been previously reported that Chicago's own John Cusak along with Wesley Snipes, Nick Cannon, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, and comedian Dave Chappelle have also been spotted on set. Meanwhile, Lee is scheduled to work on Chiraq til the end of July and its set to hit theaters in 2016.

[Video] Chance The Rapper Brings Out Kendrick Lamar At TIP Fest In Chicago

With help from the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, and the Chicago Park District, Chance The Rapper kicked off his first annual TIP Festival at the FirstMerit Bank Pavilion earlier today in his hometown, Chicago. During the free concert, the event was packed with entertainment and Chance brought out a special surprise guest, Kendrick Lamar, to join him onstage. Check out video below.

Packed with energy, music and superstars, Chicago's WGCI captured and gained their listeners respect with  Summer Jam 2015 . This past weekend, the Hip Hop and R&B station presented the second installment of their summer concert series at the United Center and it was packed with fans. During the event, WGCI entertained their listeners with an awesome lineup and introduced the crowd to their new Morning Takeover along with awarding two students for their academics achievements.  Kicking off the show, Atlantic Recording artist Sevyn Streeter hit center stage looking sexy as usual followed by hip hop's newest rising star Fetty Wap, who got the crowd off its feet with "Trap Queen." Next, R&B singer Jeremih took the stage, in front of his home crowd, smoothing things out for the ladies and he was packed with full of surprises. Congratulations are in order for rapper Kanye West. Looks like his wife Kim Kardashian will be giving him an heir to the Throne real soon. On yesterday, the Keeping Up With The Kardashian reality star revealed to her millions of followers on Father's Day that her and Kanye are expecting a son. During his set, Ye took center stage at Phillip Arena and brought out Atlanta's own 2 Chainz for their collaborative classic "Mercy." [Video] Spike Lee & Father Pfleger Leads Peace March In Chicago

In support of the kids getting out of school for summer, Father Pfleger and his co-sponsor Spike Lee kicked off a historic march for peace on the Southside of Chicago, last night. The event was put to-gether to bring awareness and to put an end to gun violence in the streets of Chicago and it was one of many that will take place every Friday night up until October, according to Father Michael Pfleger.  Joined by a large number of supporters, Father Pfleger and the "Do The Right Thing" film director kicked things off with a huge rally on the steps of the St. Sabina Church. The rally was consisted of inspirational speeches, singing and a poem by Harold Green. Afterwards, Pfleger and Lee led the crowd to 79th and Racine to begin the march, which turned out to be full of love, peace, and fun. Meanwhile, Spike Lee is currently working in production with his Chicago-based film Chiraq and its scheduled to hit theaters later next year. Until then, check out pics and vid

[Photos] Spike Lee & Castmembers of "Chiraq" Movie Come Out For Peace Block Party In Chicago

Despite the hard battle they had with Ald. David Moore, Father Pfleger and his co-sponsor Spike Lee were permitted to host their Peace Block Party for Chicago's Auburn-Gresham community. The event took place yesterday at St, Sabina and it was packed with supporters and well-known celebrities.  Throughout the day, the "Do The Right Thing" director and cast members of his Chicago-based film Chiraq  joined Father Pfleger and the community for an all day fun event. The festival was filled with food, music, and plenty of games for the kids, plus participants got the chance to take photos with Spike and the Chiraq cast, which included Wesley Snipes, John Cusack, Harry Lennix, and others.  Meanwhile, Spike Lee is currently still working in production with his Chiraq film and its scheduled to hit theaters later next year. Demi Lobo Leaves Chicago's WGCI For New Opportunities In L.A.

Over the last 7 months, Chicago's own 107.5 WGCI has made a major shake up with the lineup on their radio station, by releasing some of their favorite personalities. Now, one of their brighest stars, Demi Lobo, is making some moves of her own. After nearly five years of working as a Part-time On-air Personality, Demi Lobo has decided to leave WGCI for a career in L.A. to be amongst the stars.  This past weekend, we caught up with the former WGCI radio personality at her "Going Away" party in Chicago's South Loop, which was filled with former colleagues, friends, and industry associates. Over the last couple of months, Spike Lee has received a lot of criticism for using the title  Chiraq for his upcoming film due to the violence in Chicago, but now, he maybe lighting things up - just a bit.  On yesterday, the "Do The Right Thing" director took to social media and announced he just added funny man Dave Chappelle to the project. The two were spotted on set at The Shrine in Chicago's South Loop and judging by the pic they shared on Instagram, both parties seems to be all smiles.  "The Great David Chapelle Is All Aboard Da CHA-RAQ Peace Train. YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF. Our Peace Train Is Smokin' Cuz We Ain't Jokin'." Meanwhile, Spike has already begun production on Chiraq and he's scheduled to film in Chicago until later this Summer. For now, let's pray and hope our good brother Spike finishes up his film so we can see his good work in theaters.

Last night, Donda's House showed peace and unity in Chicago, when they teamed with M.U.R.A.L. for another installment of their Behind The Mic series. The event took place on Chicago's Southside and it was hosted by Rhymefest and Lupe Fiasco with Big K.R.I.T. as their special invited guest. During their discussion, at the Jacob Carruthers Center For Inner-City Studies, Fest and Lupe talked to the southern rapper about a series of things, including his upbringing and the evolution of his music. Krit also opened up about working with Blues legend B.B. King on his track "Praying Man." "To do a song with B.B. King was not only something I never dreamed would happen but its... [Video] John Monopoly Brings "Go ILL Music Showcase" To His Hometown Chicago

This past weekend (5/30), John Monopoly presented  The Go ILL A&R Major Label Showcase  in his hometown, Chicago. The event took place in the City's West Loop at Red Kiva and it was put on to highlight new aspiring talent and it featured Executives from major labels along with A&R's as well.  During the event, we caught up the music veteran  for an exclusive interview and he explained to us what he looks for when he's managing and marketing artists. "It's not really like a just one thing. Its just like a it, a it thing you know what I mean. You gotta have, you know - swag. You gotta have the lyrical process, you gotta have the right attitude, the look, you know. Its a whole combination of things."
