  After taking a long hiatus, due to the pandemic, McDonald's returned to the City of Chicago with it's 45th All-American Basketball Games displaying some of the Nation's top high school talent. The round of events took place last night at Wintrust Arena, in the City's South Loop, and yes, it was packed with fans, food, live music, and a ton of excitement for families and kids to enjoy. Kicking off the night, fans witnessed the Ladies Basketball Teams take the floor, in a tough battle, as the Ladies of the East Team dominated the West led by Kira "Ki Ki" Rice, who took home Co-MVP. Ki Ki is a student who attends school in Washington D.C. and she plans to attend UCLA in the Fall. She also received the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year Award earlier this week. Gearing up to celebrate it's 45th Anniversary, the McDonald's All-American Game is making it's way back to the City of Chicago. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 29th at Wintrust Arena, in the City's South Loop, and it will showcase high school's most iconic players from across the Nation.  The McDonald's All-American event will also feature Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum artist Lil Baby, who will take the floor for a high-energy halftime performance for fans and players to enjoy. After a long tiresome year of being stuck at home, due to the pandemic, the City of Chicago is back open and you know what that means, some of your favorite Summer activities are back in town. That's right! It's true! Chicago is back open, and in celebration, the City is giving away 1,200 single-day passes to Lollapalooza (one of the largest Summer events that takes place in Grant Park).  This year, the four-day music festival will be held July 29th to August 1st and passes have been donated by the organizers for vaccinated Chicagoans and passes will also be distributed to those who make a special appointment at select City vaccination sites, according to press release on yesterday.  Always showing support and continuing to make a difference, actor/comedian Nick Cannon stopped in Chicago today to help with the Feed Your City Challenge. The event is an initiative, moving across the country, to help those in need and it took place on the City's South Side at the Pullman Center. The event kicked off around 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon and families showed up in the hundreds, as they drove in their cars for social guidelines, while being greeted by Cannon and receiving free groceries.  During the event, Nick Cannon also took pictures with fans and he was joined by other celebrities like G. Herbo, Queen Key, Tony Draper, Power 92, BendaWorld and others who volunteered.   The event turned out to be a big success and you can check out some of our pics and video below. Continuing to strive for greatness, Kanye West comes up big at this year's Billboard Music Awards . Last night, the Chicago rapper took home four awards in the gospel category, which includes Top Gospel Artist and Gospel Song for "Follow God." Celebrities from all around and across the country have been helping out, amid the pandemic, with the Feed Your City Challenge initiative and now the tour is making it's way to Chicago. The next celebrity set to join in on the Feed Your City Challenge  is Grammy Award winning rapper Common and he will be returning to his hometown Chicago to give out free groceries to those in need.  The event is scheduled to take place on Chicago's South Side on October 17th and Common will be joined by producer NO I.D., singer-songwriter Jhene Aiko, actor Nick Cannon and Chicago's own G. With the release of his latest album "PTSD," G. Herbo is no stranger when it comes to rapping about trauma and the harsh realities of the streets and come Oct. 10th, the Chicago rapper will be joining AT&T to talk about those things and more at their "Coffee, Hip Hop, and Mental Health" event. The event will be hosted by WGCI's Kyle Santillian and it will be an in-depth virtual panel discussion focusing on the power of therapy and mental wellness.  G. Even years after his retirement from the game of basketball, Michael Jordan's greatness continues to win. Last night, your airness and the Chicago Bulls pulled in an Emmy for their docuseries "The Last Dance," which is a 10-part documentary that centered around the team as they chase their sixth NBA Championship in the 90's. The documentary was presented by ESPN during the Spring, and it highlighted never-seen-before footage and interviews, which caused a lot of controversy between MJ and his former teammates and arch rivals. The Last Dance is also said-to-be one of the highest rated documentaries in sports history on ESPN.

In compliance with COVID-19 Guidelines, Chance The Rapper teams up with Ralph Lauren for an incredible one night only virtual concert. The event took place at RL's flagship store in Downtown Chicago and it shows Chance performing tracks from Acid Rap , Coloring Book and The Big Day .

Since the release of their classic hit "Po Pimp," Do or Die have been known across the country as one of hip hop's legendary groups and come this month, they're set to perform live for a fun night at the Drive-In Fest. The event is set to take place August 22nd at the south parking lot of Chicago's Soldier Field and it will also feature R&B singer Lloyd, Bobby V and Pleasure P of the group Pretty Ricky. Summertime Chi is here and Soldier Field is set to kick things off serving as a drive-in movie theater. The first showing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday night and films are expecting to show up until Sunday night, on a big screen, in the south lot. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8:30 p.m. According to ABC7 , the movie selection will begin with a little nostalgia as "Groundhog Day" serves as the first film on Wednesday night.  The movie series will continue on Thursday night with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" followed by "Fast & Furious" on Friday, "Grease" on Saturday and closing out the weekend with "Shrek" on Sunday.  "Each ticket includes a 90 minute music showcase by a locally featured Musician or DJ, followed by the movie screening on (3) jumbo screens for up to (6) people," according to the event's website. If the year wasn't already worst, Lollapalooza cancels their annual music festival due to COVID-19. The summer event, which takes place in Chicago's Grant Park, broke the news today on their site. "We wish we could bring Lollapalooza to Grant Park again this year, but we understand why things can't move forward as planned," Lolla said on their site. "The health and safety of our fans, artists, partners, staff and community is always our highest priority." In spite of this year's cancellation, Lolla have assured fans and concert-goers they will be working hard to return in 2021. In the meantime, Lollapalooza plans to give fans a virtual livestream experience, which is set to take place later this summer. The lineup for this event will be announced next month, according to the festival site.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of Chicago's biggest events and concerts have been canceled for Summer 2020 . The news broke earlier this morning, when The Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events announced the cancellation for a number of events. According to reports , the City has canceled Memorial Day Parade along with Gospel, Blues, and House Music Fest for May and June. Right now, it's no word if other major events will be canceled; however, Governor JB Pritzker has suggested last month that all large gatherings be shut down across Illinois throughout the summer. "I think everybody needs to think seriously about canceling any large summer events," Pritzker said during a press conference.  He also added "I just don't, from my perspective today, I do not see how we are going to have large gatherings of people again until we have a vaccine, which is months and months away... [I] would not risk having large groups of people get...

Giving back to his hometown Chicago, rap legend Twista teams up with State Rep La Shawn Ford for the  Mask Up And Live  campaign. The new initiative kicked off today at Creative Salon on the West Side and it was created to help the community wear their masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. "I wanted to be apart of it because I know that when people see celebrities like me wearing a mask, they know that it's serious" Twista told the News via Facetime.  State Rep La Shawn Ford also added, "We intend to get masks out to those that don't have access to them in the black communities. We are coming together to do the right thing and save lives." While the NBA season is suspended due to the coronavirus, ESPN is moving up the premiere date of "The Last Dance," a 10-part docuseries on Michael Jordan and the 1990's Chicago Bulls.
