Soul legend Bobby Womack, best known for hits "If You Think You're Lonely Now," "Harry Hippie," and "Across 110 Street" has passed away. The news broke yesterday on Friday (6/27) after a rep for Womack's label, XL Records, confirmed his passing but its said to be no cause of death at this time.

This past weekend, R Kelly stopped in his hometown Chicago to perform at WGCI's Summer Jam at the United Center and after his performance, Kellz stopped to talk with the Morning Riot for an post interview. During their discussion, Kellz addressed the rumors about his child being a transgender and why he hasn't responded to the reports sooner. He also talks about being relevant in the music industry, the violence his hometown, and Carmelo Anthony possibly coming to the Chicago Bulls.

In support of his forthcoming album Trigga, which drops on July 1st, R&B singer Trey Songz stopped in Chicago, last night (6/23), to hang out with Power 92 and its loyal listeners for an exclusive meet-n-greet at Sawtooth. It was presented by Hennessy and it was hosted by Power 92's Tone Kapone.
During the event, fans and invited guests got the opportunity to mix and mingle with each other, while watching Tone Kapone interview Trey Songz. Chicago's number #1 urban station 107.5 WGCI kicked off their Summer Jam concert series, this past weekend, with some of the biggest names in music. The event took place at the City's United Center and the place was packed with loud screaming fans, showing love for their favorite artists.
Kicking off the show, Chicago's own "Bop Kings" Dlow and Stunt Taylor hit the stage to perform their latest singles to get the crowd hyped, followed by performances from K Camp and Ty Dolla $ign.
Next in the show, the "King of Memphis" Yo Gotti hit the stage to give the audience a hard rocking performance with his taste of the streets, while Jennifer Hudson followed and smooth things out with her latest single produced by Timbaland called "Walk It Out."
Later, the "King of R&B" R Kelly took center stage and lets just say the rest was history. Kellz made sure he gave his hometown exactly what they wanted, singing nothing but hits. He took the crowd on a journey with classic from his 12 Play album all the way up to his latest album, Black Panties.
Ending the night off, Roc Nation's very own J Cole hit the stage with his live band followed by Trey Songz, who had the ladies standing on their feet screaming and calling out his name.

Still looking gorgeous and sexy as ever, Superstar singer and dancer Jennifer Lopez stopped in Chi City this past Saturday to headline B96's 2014 Pepsi Summer Bash. The festivities took place in the City's Bridgeview area at Toyota Park and it was packed with a large amount of loud screaming fans.

In support of kids getting out of school for the summer, "Bop King" D Low, creator of Chicago dance craze "D Low Shuffle," teamed up with the Black McDonald's Operators Association, today, to bring peace in the community with a pop-up concert. The event took place in River Oaks Mall, in Chicago's South Suburbs, and it was packed with kids, parents, and walk-by shoppers to support the cause.
Taking the stage, D Low turned up the crowd and performed his hit "D Low Shuffle." He also got the kids to dance and participate, while taking pics with the rest of his fans before leaving the building.
Afterwards, we caught with D Low to talk about his new success and here's what he had to say:
"I mean its overwhelming; I can only dream about this. I use to always dwell on it a lot as a kid and now I'm living out my dream. I mean its a blessing from God and its a moment I'ma cherish for the rest of my life."

While promoting their upcoming movie Think Like A Man Too, Actor/comedian Kevin Hart and TV host Terrence J stopped in Chicago, today, for a public meet-n-greet at Hyde Park Hair Salon. The place is famously known for serving Pres. Obama and it was surrounded by a a large amount of fans.
During their visit at the shop, both celebrities signed autographs and took pictures with fans. They also answered questions from media, while Hart went to work to cut some of the costumers hair.

Yeezy Season Is Back!
Last night, Kanye West returned to the states, from his honeymoon, to kick off the summer run of his tour dates. The first show took place in Austin, TX and it was held at the 2014 Summer X Games. Ye is also expected to hit Manchester, TN next for the Bonnaroo Festival and that kicks off June 12-15.

In preparation for his project Nobody Smiling, its seems that Rap legend Common has found a new home. According to RR, the Chicago MC has just signed with No I.D.'s Def Jam based label, Artium.
No I.D. speaks:
“Common and I have a long history of making great music together. His rich legacy and robust talent are perfect addictions to the Def Jam family. It’s particularly significant that he’s coming under our roof for his 10th album as a matured artist and cultural ambassador. It’s a tremendous boost for the spirit of Def Jam as well as the world of hip hop.”
It's reported No I.D. will also serve as the exec. producer of Common's new LP, which drops July 22.

This past Saturday (5/31), 21-year-old rapper OTF Nunu was shot and killed on Chicago's South Side. According to reports, Nunu, who real name is MacArthur Swindle and cousin to prominent rapper Lil Durk, was gunned down while sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of a South Side shopping mall. .
