Soldier Field Set To Serve As A Drive-In Movie Theater

Summertime Chi is here and Soldier Field is set to kick things off serving as a drive-in movie theater. The first showing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday night and films are expecting to show up until Sunday night, on a big screen, in the south lot. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show starts at 8:30 p.m.
According to ABC7, the movie selection will begin with a little nostalgia as "Groundhog Day" serves as the first film on Wednesday night. 
The movie series will continue on Thursday night with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" followed by "Fast & Furious" on Friday, "Grease" on Saturday and closing out the weekend with "Shrek" on Sunday. 
"Each ticket includes a 90 minute music showcase by a locally featured Musician or DJ, followed by the movie screening on (3) jumbo screens for up to (6) people," according to the event's website.

Juice WRLD Posthumous Album "Legends Never Die" Set To Drop

Although he's gone in the physical, Juice WRLD's music and legacy continues to live on; and come this Friday on July 10th, fans will get a new project from the Chicago rapper. The posthumous album is called Legends Never Die and it will include 15 tracks, according to the rapper's social media page.

Lil Durk drops his latest new visual for the streets called "Gucci Gucci." The video features Gunna and it's taken from his latest new project, Just Cause Y'all Waited 2. Kanye West Covers GAP Store In Chicago With A Message To Celebrate New Partnership

In support of his new 10-year deal with GAP, Kanye West celebrates the partnership with a message for people to see. The words and his collaborative logo can be viewed on THE GAP's flagship store in Downtown Chicago and it simply express thanks to God and the company for the new opportunity.
"Hi Chicago it's Ye. This is the GAP store I used to shop at when I would drive my Nissan from the Southside," stated by Kanye.

He also goes on to say, "I thank God and I am so humbled at the opportunity to serve, I put my heart into the color palette and every detail."

Lollapalooza Cancels Annual Music Festival In Chicago Due To COVID-19

If the year wasn't already worst, Lollapalooza cancels their annual music festival due to COVID-19. The summer event, which takes place in Chicago's Grant Park, broke the news today on their site.
"We wish we could bring Lollapalooza to Grant Park again this year, but we understand why things can't move forward as planned," Lolla said on their site. "The health and safety of our fans, artists, partners, staff and community is always our highest priority."

In spite of this year's cancellation, Lolla have assured fans and concert-goers they will be working hard to return in 2021.

In the meantime, Lollapalooza plans to give fans a virtual livestream experience, which is set to take place later this summer. The lineup for this event will be announced next month, according to the festival site.

Kanye West Donates $2 Million & Set Up College Fund For George Floyd's Daughter

Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd have all recently lost their lives due to senseless deaths; but people like Kanye West are letting the families know they are not alone. According to TMZ, the Jesus Is King rapper has donated $2 million to help with their legal team and other causes.
It's also reported, Kanye set up a 529 college saving fund to fully cover tuition for Floyd's 6-year-old daughter Gianna, in addition to reaching back to his hometown Chicago to help several black-owned businesses effected by recent riots.
Meanwhile, all 4 officers involved in the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota have now been charged with 2nd degree murder.

While staying at home during the pandemic, fans everywhere have enjoyed watching some of their favorite artists battle it out on Verzuz and now, WGCI plans on doing something similar of their own. Ex-Bulls Champion Craig Hodges Rips Michael Jordan & "The Last Dance" Docuseries

Since the release of the first episode, back in April, Michael Jordan and The Last Dance docuseries has been the most talked about topic in the streets; however, some people don't seem to be pleased. In a recent interview with Fox Sports Chris Broussard and Rob Parker, Ex-Bulls player Craig Hodges explains his discontent for the ESPN's series along with criticizing former teammate Michael Jordan.
"So I'm watching the first episode and I was upset about the 'cocaine circus.' That bothered me because I was thinking about the brothers who are on that picture with you (referring to MJ)," said Hodges. 
The former Bulls player also talked about a number of other things, including why he was bothered with MJ accusing Horace Grant for giving insight info for the Jordan Rules, written by Sam Smith.

Just in time for Mother's Day, R&B star Brandy celebrates women, who's holding it down, with her brand new visual, Baby Mama. The colorful new video features Chance The Rapper and it's creative direction is by Derek Blanks and Frank Gatson along with music production from Hit-Boy.
"The inspiration for Baby Mama was of course my daughter and how she makes me a better person. I wanted to do a song about her and speak to all baby mama's out there," said Brandy.

Chicago Cancels Major Summer Events Due To COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of Chicago's biggest events and concerts have been canceled for Summer 2020. The news broke earlier this morning, when The Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events announced the cancellation for a number of events. According to reports, the City has canceled Memorial Day Parade along with Gospel, Blues, and House Music Fest for May and June.
Right now, it's no word if other major events will be canceled; however, Governor JB Pritzker has suggested last month that all large gatherings be shut down across Illinois throughout the summer.
"I think everybody needs to think seriously about canceling any large summer events," Pritzker said during a press conference. 
He also added "I just don't, from my perspective today, I do not see how we are going to have large gatherings of people again until we have a vaccine, which is months and months away... [I] would not risk having large groups of people getting together, an…

Twista Teams Up With State Rep for "Mask Up And Live" Campaign To Fight COVID-19

Giving back to his hometown Chicago, rap legend Twista teams up with State Rep La Shawn Ford for the Mask Up And Live campaign. The new initiative kicked off today at Creative Salon on the West Side and it was created to help the community wear their masks to stop the spread of COVID-19.
"I wanted to be apart of it because I know that when people see celebrities like me wearing a mask, they know that it's serious" Twista told the News via Facetime. 
State Rep La Shawn Ford also added, "We intend to get masks out to those that don't have access to them in the black communities. We are coming together to do the right thing and save lives."
Meanwhile, 70% of Chicago's COVID-19 deaths are in the African American community, who only make up just a third of the city's population.

Spotted somewhere on his ranch in Cody, Wyoming, Kanye West lands on the new cover of GQ. In the latest May 2020 issue, the hip hop genius speaks on a variety of topics including new music, his relationship with God, struggles with alcohol, in addition to speaking on the passing of Kobe Bryant. 
"The way that Kobe would say that we all have to come together and win this championship is the way I look at life now. To an infinite, other level," said West.

Michael Jordan "The Last Dance" Documentary Release Moved Up To April

While the NBA season is suspended due to the coronavirus, ESPN is moving up the premiere date of "The Last Dance," a 10-part docuseries on Michael Jordan and the 1990's Chicago Bulls. According to our source, the series was originally set to air in June but now it's scheduled for April 19 and will air for 5 weeks through May 17 with never-before-seen footage and interviews of the Bulls dynasty. ComEd Helping Residential Customers Who Are Without Power During Coronavirus Pandemic

Lending a hand to help during this coronavirus crisis, ComEd is taking necessary steps to support its customers. On Monday, the electric company announced it will work with residents whose service are disconnected and will have service restored to ensure access to a safe and healthy environment.
"The last thing we want you to worry about as COVID-19 spreads is whether your home will have power or what to do if you are without power," said ComEd CEO Joe Dominguez. 
He also added, "We need to come together in support of one another during this time. Ensuring every resident across Northern Illinois has access to safe and reliable electric service is just one of the many ways we are doing just that." 
Right now, ComEd customers, who have had their electric service disconnected for a non-safety issue, should reach out to ComEd at 1-800-334-7661 on Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. so that they can work to try to have power reconnected safely.

Lil Wayne Set To Perform At Chicago's Hottest New Venue "Radius"

Lil Wayne is still consider one of the greatest rappers alive and come March 28th, the Young Money mogul is heading back to Chicago for a live concert. The show is set to take place at Chicago's new  spot called Radius, which is a hot new venue in the City's South Loop, just minutes from downtown.

Dressed in black, while standing formation, Chicago choreography Jasmine Beal and her girl dance groups "Tiny Dreamers" and "All That Jazz" took over the United Center last night in Chicago. The event took place right before the Chicago Bulls tip-off against OKC and it was a night to remember.
During their performance, the girls stood center court and displayed style, while the deejay opened up their set with Beyonce's "Formation" and rocked it with a dope ending with Ciara's "Level Up."

After 32 long years, All-star Weekend made it's way back to Chicago and it didn't disappoint at all. Not only did kids get a chance to enjoy great activities, they got the opportunity to see their favorite players as well and 2 of them just happened to be NBA stars Lebron James and Anthony Davis. 
This past weekend, both players were spotted at the Boys & Girls Club on the City's West Side and during their visit, they celebrated the renovated facility and the new state-of-the-art basketball court.
Lebron and AD also participated in a panel discussion, which they were joined by fashion designer Virgil Abloh. They talked about the importance of community and why giving back is so important.

During the festival, you will get to see Black movies like Hollywood Shuffle with Robert Townsend, Set It Off with Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett, Akeelah and The Bee with Keke Palmer and more.

The final day of the festival will highlight some of the best young indie filmmakers from Chicago and this year films include Sugar Hill, Brother from the Suburbs, The CTA Project and Present Tense.

NBA & Nike To Honor Kobe And Gianna Bryant On NBA All-Star Uniforms In Chicago

Since the passing of Kobe Bryant hit the News, it's been a hard pill to swallow for NBA fans across the world. The NBA legend was pronounced dead, this past Sunday, when his helicopter crashed in Calabasas, CA killing him, his daughter Gianna, and 7 other passengers who were found on board.
On today, Nike and the NBA released a statement and shared how they will honor the NBA legend.
"The 2020 NBA All-Star uniforms will pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and their seven friends and teammates who tragically passed away in last Sunday's helicopter accident. The 2020 NBA All-Star Game will feature Team LeBron (James) wearing the No. 2 and Team Giannis (Antetokounmpo) wearing the No. 24 - Gianna and Kobe's basketball jersey numbers, respectively."

Chicago Kid Pays Respect To Kobe Bryant And Speaks On His Impact

This past weekend, NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi were among 9 passengers killed in a helicopter crash in California. News broke yesterday, Sunday, and it left fans totally devastated.

DaBaby And Lil Baby Set To Perform for WGCI Big Jam 2 During All-star Weekend

NBA All-star Weekend is right around the corner and WGCI is ready to put on for the city. On, Feb. 15th, the Chicago hip hop station will host the 2nd part of their annual Big Jam concert series for a special night with the "Ballers & Rappers Edition." The show will star DaBaby & Lil Baby and the show is scheduled to take place at Credit Union 1 Arena, in Chicago's West Loop area (off I-290).
