Last week, Kanye West was spotted in his hometown Chicago working on Chance The Rapper's new upcoming album. During his visit, the Yeezus rapper stopped by Chicago's #1 hip hop station WGCI to speak on Donald Trump, his plans for Chicago, and he even apologized for his slavery comments, which aired recently on TMZ. During another installment of his Time And What Must Be Done series, Minister Louis Farrakhan comes to the aid of Rapper Kanye West for his recent classism comments made on Power 105.1 The Breakfast Club. Over the last year, in the City of Chicago, we all have witness and heard of terrible things going on in the urban community, but on today (November 20), I can finally say, "I'm happy to share some good news." Today, Rapper YP & BJ The Chicago Kid took it upon themselves to give back to the people of the community on the City's South Side. They showed their appreciation for the hood by giving out turkeys for Thanksgiving!

Celebrities Encourage Chicagoans To 'Dream Out Loud'

This past weekend, in the City of Chicago, some of the biggest names in entertainment stopped in town for a powerful afternoon of live discussing called Dreams Protected Tour . The event took place on the City's North Side and it was hosted by A.J. Calloway from NBC's Extra. Throughout the event, Calloway sat down one-on-one with well known celebrities as they shared their success story with a friendly live audience. They spoke on everything from marketing and branding to educating singers about music. They even gave helpful business tips to aspiring and future entrepreneurs. Celebrity names included: Business Mogul Lisa Price, Gospel recording artist VaShawn Mitchell, Comedian Cedric The Entertainer, and Chicago icon and legend George Daniels. Chief Keef Faces Return To Jail Over Gun Range Video

Bad day for Chief Keef! According to Chicago Sun Times reports , the rapper, who real name Keith Cozart, maybe in trouble with the law again after prosecutors claim he violated his probation for having a gun in a video posted online. For those who don't know, the rapper is serving 18 months of probation for pointing a gun at a Chicago police officer; therefore, it bans him for having any guns or illegal drugs! Not only is she a co-host for WGCI's Morning Riot, she's also a radio personality for KISS FM and a contributor for WLS-TV's Windy City Live as well. On this morning, we learned Chantele (a lady known making news) had the honor of meeting another young lady who has accomplished some pretty big goals of her own - Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas. According to our source, Chantele interviewed the star olympian this past weekend during a fundraiser event called "Pink Pearls & Pretty Dresses." We're told this mother/daughter brunch was formed to help empower young girls lead into the world and judging by the guests in attendance, we can tell it was very inspirational. Wow! This past weekend, in the City of Chicago, a star was born at Demi Lobo's "Most Talented Under 12" singing competition! His name is Quintavious Johnson and he's simply amazing! Throughout the event, this young kid from Nashville Tennessee captivated the crowd, from start to finish, with his outstanding vocals crowning him first place like last year's winner Mae Ya Ryan, who was also in the attendance.  We understand he won a total prize package of $7000 which includes six months of free services from Chicago entertainment attorney Exavier Pope... plus a one month blog spotlight from producer Doc Little and $1300 cash. WGCI Joins Community For 'Turning In Guns' in Chicago

This past weekend, on June 21st, Chicago's own WGCI and it's sister station (V103) teamed up with the community and the "City Of Chicago" for one main cause and that was for "Gun, Turn In Day!" For those who may not know, Chicago has one of the highest murder rates, in the Nation; therefore, its only right for the community to come together and get the deadly weapons off the streets. The event took place at several different locations throughout the city and one of the biggest turnouts just happened to be on the City's West Side. It was at Truth & Deliverance Church and it was hosted by WGCI's Morning Riot. Throughout the event, people from all walks of life came out to show their support. WGCI Teams With Glass Slipper Project To Help Girls For Prom

We all know, when it's time for prom, all young ladies want to feel fabulous and look their best; but unfortunately, for most parents pockets, those dreams aren't always cheap.That's why The Glass Slipper Project teamed up with Chicago's own WGCI to make those dreams come true. For those who may not know, The Glass Slipper Project is a non-profit organization who provides free prom dresses and accessories for high school girls in Chicago and the surrounding area. They've been doing this since they were founded in 1999 and they continued that great tradition this past weekend. The event took place at McCorkle Fine Arts School on Chicago's South Side and it was hosted by WGCI's own Connie Williams.

Comedian Mike Epps Takes Over WGCI's Morning Riot And Surprise Kids After School

Over a decade ago, the world was introduced to one of the funniest comics to ever hit the scene in the comedy movie "Next Friday." Now in 2012, Funnyman Mike Epps is still taking the world by storm. On yesterday, March 29th, he stepped in Chicago to take over WGCI's Morning Riot. He talked about everything from Trayvon Martin to the leaked phone call he had with his daughter that went viral over the web. He also spoke on the Late Great Whitney Houston. He talked about the influence she had on the world and how he got a chance to play in a movie with her before she died.

Comedian Kim Coles Hits Chicago To Host 'Rock The Red' Fashion Show

Kim Coles, best known for her role as "Synclaire" in the hit comedy series "Living Single," stepped in Chicago this past Saturday to host "The 3rd Annual Rock The Red Fashion Show." It was held at the Society Art Gallery in the City's West Loop and it was presented by "The Red Pump Project." For those of you who may not know, The Red Pump Project is a nonprofit organization founded by Luvvie Ajayi and Karyn Watkins. Its mission is to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls in the community.

WGCI March With Community To Seek Justice For Trayvon Martin

Still no justice for Trayvon! For those of you who may not know, Trayvon Martin (a 17 year old high school student) was shot and killed by George Zimmerman (a neighborhood watch captain) in the State of Florida. According to reports, Zimmerman told the police that the incident was in self-defense and taking him at his word, police made no arrest, nor did they give him a drug or alcohol test which caused Trayvon's family and supporters around the world to break out in outrage. This past Friday March 23rd, Chicago's own WGCI came out to joined the community and its loyal listeners to show their support for the fallen victim with a non-violent march. This gathering took place at State and Lake Street in the heart of Downtown Chicago in the front of ABC Studios. Throughout the demonstration, supporters came out with their hoodies and signs saying, "I am Trayvon Martin" while others let their voices be heard by expressing their thoughts with the public. WGCI Joins Community To Pay Tribute To Whitney Houston

This past weekend, Chicago came out to pay their respects to Whitney Houston with a special tribute. The gathering took place at the Harold Washington Cultural Center and it was hosted by WGCI's Tony Sco and V-103's Herb Kent. Throughout the ceremony, the community said their goodbyes by film, signing cards and more. They also had the opportunity to stay and view the funeral of the late singer from a live screening. Afterwards, Houston's fans were still in shock the superstar was gone and passed; however, they were more than happy that they came out to share their fondest memories of the singer during the special tribute.
